Acceptable Tolerances: Major defect: More than 1/2" in length for flat scratch, or more than 1/4” in length for
depth and width scratch, equal or more than 3 scratches on the whole outside surface; Minor defect: Between 1/4“
to 1/2” in length for flat scratch and less than 3 scratches, or between 1/8” to 1/4” in length for depth and width
scratch and less than 3 scratches on the whole outside surface. The Major acceptable tolerances on
outside/visible area can be considered as minor defect on inside/hidden part; The Minor acceptable tolerances on
outside/visible area can be considered as acceptable on inside/hidden area.
How to Measure method: The scratch length measurement should follow the curve, and not straight measurement. That is to say, measure the curve length along with the scratch instead of the beeline length from the start point to the end point. The width and depth is judged by QC’s subjectivity. |
