1.1 SOCIAL COMPLIANCE
**source all of its product on a world wide basis. with an international spread of supply it is important that our business strives to ensure fair and responsible employment and environmental practices are followed wherever in the world it is purchasing from
Our business is committed to ensuring that this policy is implemented and adhered to in all its sourced manufacturing operations. The policy is seen as setting a minimum standard and will be used as a platform from which to increase standards and conditions wherever possible.
The policy has been drawn up in line with the ethical trading initiative code and will be applied along with the local country law (the laws being the minimum standard for purchase).
The policy is as follows:
Workforce rights
? to have no employees below the legal age for employment in the country in which the unit is operating, and, as a means to improvement, work towards no employees under 15 years of age.
? All employees will have the right to collective representation within the legal framework of the country in which they work.
? There will be equality of opportunity, with no discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion or age.
? There will be no use made of forced, bonded or involuntary labour.
? All employees will be treated with respect and their health, safety and basic human rights will be protected and promoted.
? Adequate and timely training will be provided for everyone for the job for which they are employed.
? A fair days wage for a fair days work. Work rates will reflect the rates in the sector in the country in which it is operating.
? Working hours will comply with national regulations, including overtime. All overtime worked will be voluntary and paid at a premium rate.

Implementation of the **social compliance policy
All sites are monitored on an ongoing basis and action plans agreed for those units that need improvement. All units that do not comply with the e.t.i. base code will have a plan of action to work towards it.


Safety requirements
*Ensure no obstacles are blocking passageways or exits and areas in between production lines.
*fire exits clearly marked. Fire escape route must be posted on a wall in an obvious place where all employees can see it.
*ensure all work stations are well lit.
*all potentially dangerous objects must be controlled within the factory environment.
*it is advisable that scissors and clippers are secured to the work benchex.
All suppliers must have a documented needle control system in place in all factories.listed below are the key requirements of the needle control procedure:
*all new needles to be kept in a secure place with only nominated employees being given responsibility to issue them.
Spare needles are not allowed anywhere else in the factory e.g. on machines.
When a new needle is issued, to replace a damaged one, a document must be completed by the person responsible showing:
Date
Operator
Style number of garments being stitched
Confirmation the original needle, whether whole or in parts, is found(if the whole needle is not found, the bundle of work being sewn should be removed from the working area, and examined thoroughly for broken needle parts).
The document will confirm the action taken and must be signed accordingly.
All broken needle parts to be collected together and disposed of safely.
