Illinois Approved the Lead Content Labeling Act
TheIllinois governor of the United States, Blagojevich, has signed thebill SB 2860 to become Public Act 095-1019 on Dec 23, 2008. The Actamends the current "The Lead Poisoning Prevention Act" and "TheMercury-added Product Prohibition Act".
The Lead Poisoning Prevention Act:
EffectiveJanuary 1, 2010, the sale of certain children's products that contain atotal lead content in any component part more than 0.004% (40ppm) willbe prohibited (existing restriction: 0.06% or 600ppm) unless the itembears a warning statement to indicate at least one component part ofthat item contains excessive lead.
Thewarning statement shall be shown on the product or the label on theimmediate container of the children's product which should be incompliance with 16 CFR 1500.121 adopted under the Federal HazardousSubstances Act requirement.

MAY GENERATE DUST CONTAINING LEAD. | The Mercury-added Product Prohibition Act:
EffectiveJanuary 1, 2009, it will be unlawful for any person to distribute orsell any cosmetics, toiletries, or fragrances containing mercury in thestate. A manufacturer of cosmetics, toiletries, or fragrancescontaining mercury must disclose the level of mercury in the products.A manufacturer who fails to do so will commit a business offence andshall be fined.
