Drop test instruction
Rules
1. No refusal from vendor on the drop test is accepted.
2. Supplier have to provide the appropriate cartoon in order to protect the goods
Objective
Check the reliability of packing and carton quality.
Ensure the safe transit of products.
Test condition
a) Carton quantity tested:
Sampling size: S-1
b) Test surface:
Flat rigid concrete floor
c) Drop Height for non fragile goods Drop test for fragile goods
Toys, EM, Garden tools … Glass or porcelain
Gross Weight Drop height Gross Weight Drop height
0-10kg 80cm 0-10kg 25 cm
10-30kg 50cm 10-30kg 25 cm

d) Drop sequence
1. Test the most fragile corner, if not known, test the
bottom manufacturer’s joint corner
2. Test the bottom face
e) Carton should withstand the maximum static pressure in shipping container
Product scope:
These drop test applies to the export carton of all products
Note: Not applicable to packed products on a skid or pallet secured together as a single load.
Inspection Points after Test as Usual Inspection:
1, Package of sales unit
2, Safety, function and appearance of the product
Criteria
No critical defect allowed. The master carton still affords reasonable protection to the sales unit.
Operation guideline
If critical defect emerge after test, the PSI report is failed. Major defect found after drop test should be marked as pending in the PSI report. Minor is acceptable. The defect quantity and ratio should be mentioned in the report. |
