Inspection, in-house or out-source

Hi, my name is Bob. I am now hiring permenant staffs for pre-shipment inspections. But, you know, our productions are quite seasonal, and i don't think it's wise to keep staffs during low seasons. So I'd try to out-source it to inspection company, though the creditbility is in doubt. Can any of you give me a general idea how much they charge /man day? Our prodcuts are mainly outdoor swings & slides. Looking forward to hearing from you.

so you are not hiring permenant staff, right?  
if you really concern about  the quality your suppliers deliver to you, don't never hire the 3rd party to do the inspection, all 3rd parties have the impulse to MAKE MONEY, like you mentioned their credibility is with a big question mark.
3rd party inspection fee is roughly at 250 to 300 usd per manday( travel and hotel fee not included), maybe money is not a big deal for you but those money you pay the 3rd party just doesn't creates value as it supposes to do.
my advice is you need to hire as minimun as possible permenant staff to look after your quality from a to z through the whole process. when peak seasons comes with excessive workload you can not handle, then you outcontract as minimum  # of inspection as possible to a small inspection firm (not the big ones as ITS/SGS/BV ), hire tempor inspector may also be an alternative
