《A thousand year》收录于《Unity －2004雅典奥运官方专辑》中，这首歌曲的演唱者Sting(斯汀)被当今乐坛冠以诗人歌手的美名，凭借那独一无二的沙哑又不失细腻的嗓音，始终如自由不羁的云，荡漾于缈缈的空中。
      Sting的独唱事业开始于The Police解散前的1982年，1985年，Sting出版了首张个人专辑《蓝海龟之梦》，相比之下，这张专辑的歌词显得比The Police时期的作品更富智慧。这张专辑中还有“爱他就给他自由”、“心的要塞”和“俄国人”等多首歌畅销一时。从80年代末开始，Sting经常涉足政界，用进行巡回演出的款项来资助印第安人争取生活的自由。进入90年代以来，Sting多次获得葛莱美大奖，成为全球最有影响的艺人之一。
