MR16 Halogen bulb with dichroic reflector.

Cool Beam - Two thirds of the heat produced from the bulb is evacuated through the back of the lamp.

Filament bulb generats HEAT and LIGHT.

Dichroic coating is good to reflect the light but not to the heat. So most of the heat dissiplated from the back but the light is reflected and directed to the front. So you do not feel heat as the ordinary Filament bulb.

Cool Beam lamps must be used in open or well ventilated fixtures, suitably designed to dissipate the heat which is radiated to the back of the lamp.
