Switch Testing:

6.2 Overload: CSA C22.2 No. 55-M1986 ( Reaffirmed 2003).

6.2.1.2
A switch shall be operated manually or mechanically by means of its actuating member for 50 cycles at the rate of 6—10 cycles/minute, making and breaking the required test current, except that the rate of speed of operation may be greater than 10 cycles/rn in

6.2.2.2
A switch rated in horsepower and intended for use only on ac circuits shall be capable of withstanding an overload test with an ac inductive load such that the switch will make and break a current equal to six times the full-load current of a motor having the horsepower rating in question, and having a power factor of 0.40—0.50 unless the manufacturer prefers that a lower power factor be used. Compliance of a switch with the foregoing requirements shall be determined under the test conditions described in Clauses 6.2.1.2 and 6.2.1.3 and 6.2.1.5 to 6.2.1.8 inclusive.
