Job Title : QA Technologist (Furniture)
Report to : Quality Assurance Manager
JOB REQUIREMENT
• Degree / Higher Diploma in Engineering. (Recommended)
• At least 3 years QA working experience with furniture products
• Previous employment in sizable EU buying office or trading company for EEC retail market would be beneficial
• Knowledge in BS / European / ISO safety standards.
• Experience in Furniture manufacturing processes, design & development, various production line assembly techniques, finishing & testing processes, etc.
• Familiar with ISO9000 QA system and factory evaluation (Auditing).
• Experience on working with UK or Asia quality teams to monitor product quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with UK and senior management
• Discuss with UK and communicate product features and release product specification to suppliers
• Management of QC Inspectors on product specification and technical file
• Based in Local Office with occasional traveling.
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Local Language
• Good computer knowledge in Microsoft software(Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Capable of working under minimum supervision, and able to cope under pressure.
JOB PURPOSE
• Ensure all goods are fit for purpose and meet the product brief by resolving any quality issues in partnership with QA departments or UK.
• Develop and provide training to the current supplier base
• Provide technical support and co-operation to the merchandising team as well as the suppliers
• Guide QC inspectors if they have any enquiry on product
• Ensure pre-shipment inspections (PSI) are carried out on time and in accordance with business needs
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Factory audit on quality system and production processes;
• Regular in depth liaison with UK engineers to improve product design, functionality and ensure compliance with standards
• Work closely with merchandising team and other members of the Asia quality team on pre-production meetings, approving developing or modified samples and solving quality issues.
• Communication of UK technical feedback to suppliers to ensure accurate and rapid production of high quality product samples.
• Ensure correct product safety, and technical certificates [e.g. BS, ISO and EU standards] are in place.
• Work closely with technical teams in Asia and UK.
• Occasional assistance to pre-shipment inspection teams
• Check pre-shipment inspection (PSI) reports are accurately completed
• Raise PSI report failings to merchandisers and senior management
• Conduct drop tests
• Ensure Assembly instructions are clear and to SDIL standards
• Conduct Pre Production meetings with suppliers
• Seal samples at the factories
• Update Mplus and CPS every week
• Be fully knowledgeable in the details of all company manuals and training guides
• Guide and support QC inspectors in their day to day activities and training.
• Ensure QA documents are provided to QCs at all times and process is always followed |
