4.3.6 When tested according to the temperature and pressure test, Clause 8.6, and the defrost test,
Clause 8.9, surfaces that exceed the temperature of Items D2 and D3 of Table 8.2 shall be guarded in
accordance with Clauses 4.3.1 – 4.3.5.
Exception: Surfaces that are recessed or located away from the front of the appliance are not considered
subject to casual contact (see Item D3 of Table 8.2). Examples of such surfaces include condensers and
compressors located at the rear or in the machine compartment of the unit.
