PROPOSAL
17 Endurance Test
17.2 A switch is to be operated by means of its actuating member either manually or by an acceptable
machine for 6000 cycles of making and breaking its rated current at a rate of 6 – 10 cycles per minute.
The endurance test shall be performed at ambient temperatures ranging from 25°C – 70°C (77°F – 158°F)
at 5°C (7.5°F) intervals to determine a temperature vs. current derating curve. The test sample should be
conditioned at each ambient temperature for one hour before the test starts. A new test sample can be
used for each ambient condition.
