Can you give me your measurements?
到裁缝店订做衣服时，裁缝师会问你：Can you give me your measurements?（你可以把你的尺寸告诉我吗？），如果你不太清楚，要劳烦他替你量身，他会对你说：Can I take your measurements?（我可以替你量身吗？）。量身通常要量三围，女性的胸围叫Bust，男性胸围叫Chest，腰围(Waist)、臀围(Hips)。除了三围外，也有领围(Neck size)，在订作西装、中式长马褂(Cheong-sam)或婚纱(Wedding dress)时需要的。

Candy: So how long have you worked here? I haven't seen you at the shows before.

达仁问坎蒂的三围数字：Can you give me your measurements?女性的三围，英文还有一个说法：vital statistics。Vital statistics本来是‘生命统计’，指出生、结婚、死亡等关乎人口的统计。但vital除了解作‘生命的’还可解作‘极重要的’；以vital statistics来说女性身材‘极重要的数字’，当然有戏谑意味，例如：Her vital statistics are 36-24-36（她的三围是36-24-36）。
臀围、腰围尺寸，叫hip measurement和waist measurement，男女无别。胸围则颇有不同：男人胸围尺寸叫chest measurement，女人则多叫bust measurement，但叫chest measurement甚至breasts measurement也可以。Bust、chest都是‘胸部’，说起来没什么；breast是‘乳房’，说起来比较尴尬。从前，所谓上流社会连鸡胸肉都讳言breast。英国首相丘吉尔曾经作客美国，宴会上说May I have some breast?（给我些胸部好吗？）不料女主人板着面孔说：Mr. Churchill, in this country we ask for white meat（丘吉尔先生，敝国人会说白肉）。第二天，丘吉尔送她一朵胸花，附字条说：I would be most obliged if you would pin this on your white meat（假如你把这个别在你的白肉之前，将是我的莫大荣幸）。今天，breast已经不是‘禁字’，但一般量胸围，Women are measured round the bust而不是the breasts。
