General warnings - User Limitations
| These warnings, which specify user limitations, shall draw the attention of users or their supervisors to the inherent hazards and risks involved in using the toy, as well as to ways of avoiding such hazards and risks.
Examples of toys needing to specify user limitations are:
i) Chemistry sets (minimum age specified and adult supervision needed) ii) Scooters (intended weight of the child is needed) iii) Functional toys (adult supervision is needed) |
Warning for children over 3 years on toys that may be dangerous for children under that age | Shall bear the warning: "Not suitable for children under 3 years (or 36 months)"
*Diameter should be 20 mm unless there is insufficient area, in which case it should be at least 10 mm in diameter.
A short indication of the specific hazard, for example,
choking hazard, shall be given.
*When more than one hazard is present, at least one of the principal hazards shall be indicated.

Activity toys
| Shall bear the warning:
"Only for domestic use."
*All activity toys, including those attached to a crossbeam, shall be accompanied by instructions giving the correct assembly procedures and maintenance information.

Functional toys
| Shall bear the warning:
"To be used under the direct supervision of an adult."
*Working instructions and precautions must accompany the toy. The warning must also indicate that the toy must be kept out of the reach of children under the age specified by the manufacturer.

Chemical toys
| Shall bear the warning:
"Not suitable for children under (*) years. For use under adult supervision."
*Precautions and first-aid information should be given. Label shall also indicate that the toy must be kept out of the reach of children under the age specified by the manufacturer.

Skates, rollerskates, inline skates, skateboards, scooters and toy bicycles for children
| Shall bear this warning:
"Protective equipment should be worn. Not to be used in traffic."
*Instructions shall remind users that the toy must be used with caution.
Some indication shall also be given about the recommended use of protective equipment (helmets, gloves, etc.)

Aquatic toys
| Shall bear the warning:
"Only to be used in water in which the child is within its depth and under adult supervision."

Toys in food
| Shall bear the warning:
"Toy inside. Adult supervision recommended."
|
Imitation protective masks and helmets
| Shall bear the warning:
"This toy does not provide protection."
|
Toys intended to be strung across a cradle, cot or perambulator by means of strings, cords, elastic bands or straps
| Shall bear the warning:
"To prevent possible injury by entanglement, remove this toy when the child starts trying to get up on its hands and knees in a crawling position."
*This warning should be provided on the packaging and the toy itself.

Packaging of fragrances in olfactory board games, cosmetic kits and gustative games
| Shall bear the warning:
"Contains fragrances that may cause allergies."

CE Mark
| The CE mark should always be affixed to the packaging of the toy if the marking on the toy is not visible from outside the packaging.

Traceability marking
| Toys must bear a type, batch, serial or model number, or other element that allows their identification for traceability purposes. If the size or nature of the toy does not allow it to bear the required information, then it can be provided on the packaging or in a document that accompanies the toy.

Manufacturer's name and address
| The manufacturer shall provide its name, registered trade name/mark and address on the toy; if this is not possible due to the size, shape or nature of the toy, then this information shall be provided on the packaging or in a document that accompanies the toy.
