There's one time , I've reviewed a hand tool by visual , it was passed the inspections at that time,but later after 10 days , the metal pin & rivet on the tool started to get rust ,so ,I think it's a must that all the metal products should go through the salt spray testing no matter what is the raw material ,even it is made of corrosion resistant material ! what do you think ? My Friends .
of course, even if the hand tool is made of ss,but if the the factory use the grade 430,it must be have rust risk in future,sometimes ,factory will use 202,201 the low Nickle content,there will have the rusty issue as well.So you should check their IQC and their's raw material specification from subcontractor.Certainly ,your suggestion of doing the salt spray test is exactly.
A formal manufacturer should have their lab and should do the Salt Spray testing in every shift from every batch of material.
If they do not do this test, you can ask them: how can you guarrantee your products from rusting?
Just like the wooden product inspection, if the factory even do not have a moisture tester, I will directly ask them: how can you guarrantee and keep your product in a right moisture level? How??
