I  went up to interview for a US firm, I could speak English for 10 minutes, but after 10 minutes,
I could not understand the mean of the opposition person . and I could listen the words continuing  and my head been very  dizzy ,
I don't know the reason??and how to correct this situation ?

美国在30年内还是强势的,不会象70年代学苏联语到了90年代没有用处了(白学了)

对，lz说的对呀，中国的贸易伙伴大国们都是以说英语为主的呀，英语不太好的话，做外贸是有点局促的，特别是口语。有时好的单子和职位就是因为英语不好，而失之交臂了的。

环境什么的都只是借口而已，英文本来也没什么好坏之分，
主要看你投入了多少时间和精力。
反正我和别人讲话，他们说的我都听的懂，我自己想说的也能说出来。
没碰上几个英文很好的，当然美国人英国人除外。

9. cannot ... too

例句： We cannot be too patient with others。

误译：我们对别人不能有太大的耐性。

原意：我们对别人无论有怎样大的耐性都不过分。

说明： cannot ... too 为习语，意为"无论怎样.....。也不过分". 若上例改成 We should not be too patient with them. 则就变成相反的意思：我们对他们不应太过忍耐。

10. Canton

例句： A: What is your address?

B: ... Canton, OH 44720。

误译： A: 你的地址在哪里？

B: 广州奥赫路44720号。

原意： A: 你的地址在哪里？

B: (美国)俄亥俄州坎顿.....。邮政编码 44720。

说明：本例中的答语是个不完整的地址，主要是想说明例中的 Canton 不是"广州"而是别的城市。英文地址的写法是按照从小到大的顺序，可见OH不是街名，而是Othio的缩写，译成中文为"俄亥俄(州)",是美国中西部的一个州.44720 不是门牌号，而是美国的邮政编码(Zip Code)，由五位数字组成，不象中国采用六位数字的邮政编码。事实上，仅从 OH或五位邮码就可以确定 Canton 不是"广州"而是美国俄亥俄州东北部的一个城市------"坎顿"。至于"广州"的译名，虽然旧译也是Canton, 但现在标准的译名是 Guangzhou(汉语拼音)。

直译类，这类比较简单

锅贴 pot sicker（这个翻译非常直接，锅就是锅，贴就是贴）
酸辣汤 hot&sour soup（又辣又酸的汤）
春卷 spring rolls（春天的卷）
柠檬牛肉 lemon beef
炒杂菜 mixed vegetable（混合在一起的菜）
叫化鸡 beggars chicken（乞丐鸡）
四喜丸子 four-joy meatballs（四个快乐的肉球）
清蒸鱼 steam fish
火锅 hot pot（热锅）
烤鸭 roasted duck

可以看到以上一些翻译，没有涉及文化内涵，而仅仅涉及制作方法或者口味的，似乎比较容易成功，而类似“四喜丸子”这样的菜名译法，看起来令人忍俊不禁。

外企白领最IN的工作英语说法

Aggressive

字面翻译成“进攻性的”，在外企里面意思含糊，褒义的有"具有开拓精神的"、"有事业心的"，贬义的有"咄咄逼人的"、"喜欢没头脑乱闯的"、"容易得罪别人的"，反正意思可褒可贬，看你自己琢磨。如果说自己"aggressive"的，潜台词是：我可不是那种混日子的人，我是能干事的。

潜台词：一旦被别人说"very aggressive"，需要好好理解，也许人家是说：这人整天凶巴巴的，不好相处，做事没头没脑，老闯祸。但老板说你不够"aggressive"，那意思则是你不够积极，工作需要更主动些。

Unacceptable

字面意思是：不能接受。老外从小接受的教育是人要以表扬鼓励为主，所以老外批评人比较含蓄。说你这件事办的unacceptable，已经算是说的很重了，就是指你办的事情太差了，说不过去啊。中国老板在外企混久了，也便跟着拽起来，对你不满，写email给你，左一个unacceptable右一个unacceptable。

潜台词：你办的这是什么事啊，太不合我心意了，最好小心点。

外来语的影响

对英语拼写影响较大的三种语言是希腊语（多数词汇通过拉丁语间接进入英语）、拉丁语（英语80%的词汇直接或间接来源于拉丁语）和法语。

◆议论文，只要判断出reason句和result句即可。Reason句是从不同角度论述观点正确性的句子，一般出现在前半部分。如果文章开头的几个词让你感觉与上面的句子有联系，这个词一般情况下就是reason句。表示关系的词一般有：they/such/this/these/also/further more等等。

◆记叙文，先要明确四大要素，即时间、地点、人物、事件，明确了这四要素，整个文章脉络基本就清晰了。然后还要注意一些句子是肯定要跳读的，有些是一定要细读的。具体如下：

详述某些细节的句子可以不看；
