Cutting floor with cutting supervisor (3days)

common fabric type & defects (mesh, interlock, jersey, solid/non-solid)

explain reasons for stabilizing fabric

how markers are used eg. 4-pc versus 6 to 8-pc markers
-
pinning for plaids or stripe laying
-
one-way versus two way cut (grain or pattern direction)
-
numbering of panels
-
importance of cutting precision (under or over cut)
-
purpose of building in shrinkage & relationship of fabric weight
Practical (1-1/2 day)

Deploy trainee to observe work-in-progress on her own to identify with her previous 3 days input & form her own questions

Present notes of topic covered in ENGLISH to management as a recap and to assess written communication skills.
Assessment (1/2 day)

Trainer to provide management their assessment report of the trainee’s performance

Management to set aside time to assess how much was absorbed & to answer trainee’s questions. This also helps to detect if the designated instructors had conducted the training topics in the desired fashion or if the trainee had problems understanding the content. Do not move to the next stage until problems are resolved.
Week Two
Sewing with sewing supervisor (3 days)

identify basic garment small components & trims

observe sewing technique (no need to know how to sew, just know how the operators do it)

show the flow of each operation from small parts, to sub-assembly to full assembly
-
basic type of stitches (lockstitch, chain-stitch, overlock-stitching, blind-stitching)

explain term like edge-stitch, double needle, topstitching, reinforcement stitching
Practical (1-1/2 days)

Same as week one. Let trainee observe on her own & form her own questions

In finishing department with packing supervisor (3 days)
